With the current events today, it is becoming more and more difficult to entertain kids with the usual fun activities.

The streaming world has however introduced a whole lot of viewing options. From adventure to learning to sci-fi, the options are endless.

Netflix has all these plus interactive films where kids choose their very own adventure and determine how it plays out.

We have compiled a list of movies for kids available on Netflix right now including ones that have just arrived. These are perfect for passing time or for the next movie night.

Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution

In an undisclosed location, scientists create a Pokémon most powerful, Mewtwo. Mewtwo realizes he is being used as a weapon and breaks free.

His wish is to get back at the humans who wronged him. Misty, Brock and Ash are on a quest to becoming the best Pokémon masters when they suddenly receive an invitation to an island unknown.

This is however Mewtwo’s trap. With the help of Pikachu, Ash utilizes the power of friendship to fight for his life.


This film follows a young orphan staying alone at a Paris train station.

The tale is mesmerizing and whimsical and is pretty much a memorable cinema celebration for the entire family. It is based on the book The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Spookley the Square Pumpkin

The film is based on the book The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano.

Spookley who is the only square pumpkin with a fatherly scarecrow watching over him is embarrassed and sad over his squareness. 

A series of events however convince all the other farm creatures and Spookley too that he indeed has a valuable place among them.

It teaches young kids about inclusiveness, fitting in and self-esteem.

Dear Dracula

This movie centers on friendship between a Count Dracula and a shy boy.

Count Dracula fears he has lost his touch in being scary and needs to be reminded by someone how it is done.

Considering this is a Halloween movie, the story is more heartwarming and funny rather than scary.

Earth to Echo

As their community is set to be demolished, Tuck, Munich and Alex spend the last days together before they are forced to move.

One night, they receive messages on their phones and a long trek later, they discover a visitor looking to get home from another world.

They team up to get him home while avoiding the dangerous forces seeking to capture him. This is a tale of finding friendship in the most unusual places.


The holiday spirit is easily lost and when it happens to a small town, a bond most unlikely is formed.

Jesper Johannson, a banished postman in his task of delivering 6000 letters annually, meets Klaus, a woodsman. The two later work on bringing back the Christmas spirit to the people of Smeerensburg.

The film has been lauded for its heartfelt story which makes it perfect for the whole year round.

Mary and The Witch’s Flower

Mary is an 11-year old girl curious about the world.

She is often teased by locals for that until one day she stumbles upon a special and coveted flower.

With its power, she sets off on a journey of self-discovery.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Flint lives in a tiny town thrown into peril after one of his wild inventions suddenly starts changing water to food.

At that point it starts raining literal delicacies as well as gigantic treats.

The film is a mix of intricate jokes, goofy humor and genuine compassion.

The Princess and the Frog

The story follows Tiana who has dreams of opening a restaurant, a dream far more important than the childhood romantic notions of stories like “the Frog Prince”.

Tiana however finds herself stuck in a “froggy” fantasy complicated by a voodoo curse.

Ralph Breaks the Internet

The movie is Disney’s sequel of Wreck-It-Ralph and follows Ralph and Vanellope’s adventures in their online attempt at repairing an old sugar Rush game cabinet and prevents inhabitants from becoming homeless.

They however discover the job is not as easy. In their quest, they meet characters like J.P Spamley who offers them a lucrative job that will help them save their friends.

John Mulaney & the Sack Lunch Bunch

This is a musical comedy for children featuring fifteen child actors dancing and singing to a variety of special collections.

In between the skits and songs, John Mulaney talks with the kids. This is definitely a must watch for the whole family.


Complete with a lot of adventure, action and an all-star cast which includes Julia Roberts and Robin Williams, the film is just magical.

Its modern take on Peter Pan’s tale is heartwarming to say the least.

Arctic Dogs

If your kids loved Zootopia then be sure to have them watch Arctic Dogs which in the UK is known as Police Squad or Arctic Justice.

Here, viewers are brought into the world of Arctic Blast Delivery Service. Swiftly is a husky wanting to shine and finds himself leaving it to his friends to ensure everyone’s safety while he uncovers the wicked plans of Otto Von Walrus.

Despicable me

Gru finds delight in wickedness but when his rival gets credit for his worst deed yet, he decides to go an extra mile and steal the moon.

When he however stumbles upon 3 orphaned girls desperate to make him their dad, things get complicated.
